Through effective network collaboration, we team with other lawyers in other jurisdictions, or other professionals and advisors in other disciplines, to effectively blend differing professional perspectives for resolution of common challenges.
Teaming allocates tasks. This global forum helps us to keep in mind the scope of our role as U.S. lawyers while allowing us to coordinate with foreign lawyers: we provide U.S. and New York legal advice to their clients and they provide foreign legal advice to our clients.
Teaming requires tools. Thanks to the expansion of networking technology, we use collaboration tools for staying in touch with each other and our clients.
Teaming depends on network development. We are always seeking to grow, expand, and support our networks. Our attorneys regularly participate in bar association activities, professional conferences, and continuing legal education forumsas both colleagues and speakers.
Teaming defines roles and responsibilities. For particular assignments, our role depends on our clients and their needs. Typically, we serve as the project leader, but we might also support a foreign law firm or specialized niche firm in our areas of practice. For example, in some transactions we may provide the central focus for identifying and considering team members. Or we may be selected by another firm to provide only a New York or U.S. legal perspective on transactions based outside the U.S.
